ASE T-series cost: one test or all seven

As of October 2026, one T test bought on its own costs $96: the $62 test fee plus the $34 registration fee, which is charged once per order however many tests it holds. That is why grouping tests pays, and the truck series is where grouping matters most: seven tests for Master, no Renewal App, and a cap on recertification fees.

The Master truck budget

T2–T8 in one order come to $468, registration included. Bought as seven separate orders, the same tests cost $672 (7 × $96).

The one-order price comes with a deadline: 90 days from purchase to schedule and take each test. Seven tests in one order means seven tests to sit inside that window, whether in one long appointment or several. If that is too tight, two or three orders, each grouping the tests you are ready for, still save most of the registration fees. Refunds: untaken, unexpired tests canceled within 90 days of purchase are refunded, so an over-ambitious order is not money lost if you cancel in time.

Recertification: the cap does the work

Each certification lasts 5 years, then a recertification test. A recert test is $62, but test fees are capped per order, so recertifying all seven Master tests in one order costs $220: the test fees stop at three tests' worth, plus one $34 registration fee.

  • Renewal App: not for T tests, so the cap is the saving that matters.
  • Where: center or remote; taken remotely, a recert order costs no travel.
  • Line the dates up: a recertification resets the expiry to five years from the recert date. Tests recertified close together expire close together, so they can share the cap next time.

Retakes

After a failed attempt you wait 30 days. The retake is a new purchase at the same prices: $96 on its own, or $62 added to an order with other tests.

Practice costs

Prep can cost nothing. If you want the official practice tests, they are a separate purchase and ASE shows no price on the page; they exist for T2, T4, T6, T8 only. The practice test and the question sets on each test page here are free, with no sign-up.
